NOTES:
*** The title is a variation of the idiom 'isang kahig, isang tuka' (Tagalog: one scratch, one peck). The idiom is derived from the manner chickens search for food on the ground. It also signifies how the marginalized live hand-to-mouth in order to survive.
In the movie, single parent Victor (one scratch) earns just enough to support his three children (three pecks): Aiza, Nika, and Aya.
***In a sequence, Victor talks to Aiza after he got laid off from his job. Assuring that he will find ways to support his children, Victor shared to his daughter a quote that continues to resonate, "Kapag ikaw ay ipinanganak na mahirap, hindi mo kasalanan. Pero kapag namatay ka nang mahirap, kasalanan mo." (Tagalog: "If you are born poor, it’s not your mistake. But if you die poor, it’s your mistake.")
*** Ozone Disco Club was acknowledged in the end credits. A year later, a fire broke out inside Ozone Disco. Leaving at least 162 people dead, the disaster is acknowledged as the worst fire in Philippine history.
