In celebration of Father's Day and as a tribute to Dolphy, let us recall some films in which he played father roles. The titles include the word 'tatay' or 'father.'
Hataw Tatay Hataw was released in theaters on February 3, 1994. A Regal Films production, Dolphy was supported by his son Vandolph, Sheryl Cruz, Zoren Legaspi, and Nanette Medved.
Wanted Perfect Father was an entry to the 1994 Metro Manila Film Festival, opening in theaters on December 25 that year. This Star Cinema production also features Edu Manzano, Babalu, and Dawn Zulueta.
Dolphy was again supported by Vandolph in Father en Son, an entry to the 1995 Metro Manila Film Festival. The film was also the 30th anniversary presentation of RVQ Production, Dolphy's movie production company. It also stars Zsa Zsa Padilla, Babalu, Carmi Martin, and Panchito. Dolphy himself directed this film.
Other Dolphy films that include the word 'tatay,' 'daddy,' or 'father' include:
Daddy O! Baby O! (2000)
Tataynic (1998)
Daddy's Little Darlings (1984)
My Heart Belongs to Daddy (1983)
Daddy Knows Best (1983)
Ang Tatay Kong Nanay (1978)
Like Father, Like Son: Kung Ano ang Puno Siyang Bunga (1967)
Dolphy's been around for awhile, hasn't he? May he live longer. I do like his acting, his movies, and would want him to get the National Artist for Film award.
ReplyDeleteDolphy is an institution. Many of us watched his movies as we grew up.
DeleteDolphy's brand of comedy is a comedy with a heart and though he's a comedian by heart, he does know how to touch people's emotion especially on his roles as a father.
ReplyDeleteThe posters are so unique.
ReplyDeleteDolphy has had a long life and a long career. They really should declare him a National Artist already.
ReplyDeleteDolphy should be given the title -- I mean, he's already an institution. Oh, and I didn't know that his real name was Rodolfo Vera Quizon. Very interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteI've always loved Dolphy. Well, who doesn't? I love it when the deceased Babalu acted along side him. They were the perfect pair. :)
ReplyDeleteI also love Babalu's brand of comedy. Sometimes his movies are aired on free TV.
DeleteRodolfo pala real name nia :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not just the king of comedy but an iconic actor as well.
ReplyDeleteI hope he recovers. You didn't include Father Jejemon. Forgive me for being too literal, but he's a good "father" there. :-) The story was a mess tho.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched "Father Jejemon." I'll try to discuss it in a future post when I get access to a copy of the movie. :)
DeleteFor film, yes I'd definitely agree.
ReplyDeleteThat is not really the case however. There are a lot of DVD quality motion pictures out there. You simply need to know where to discover them. this content
ReplyDeleteI think that the performance is worthy our attention. But let me watch it and I will be able to share my personal opinion with you.
